Organizations to have a say on sustainable transportation in the region

News Release

The Sustainable Transportation Partnership of the Central Okanagan is seeking input from organizations throughout the region to help inform new transportation options in our communities.

“We’re looking to gain a better understanding of how our residents are travelling around the community to access services and where there are opportunities to leverage organizations to help shift to more sustainable transportation options,” said Matt Worona, STPCO Active Transportation Coordinator. “Our goal is to encourage more people throughout the region to use carpooling, biking and transit to get around.”

A survey is open to all Central Okanagan service providers, non-profit organizations, business and organized groups.

“Even though you might not be directly involved in transportation, we want to understand how your organization might have opportunities to influence your members or client groups toward more sustainable travel options,” said Worona.

This survey takes about 10 minutes to complete, and responses will be kept confidential.

Input from organizations will help shape the demand management component of the Regional Transportation Plan, which is anticipated to be complete in early 2020.

The survey is open until March 22 and can be accessed at getinvolved.kelowna.ca/sustainabletransportation.

The Sustainable Transportation Partnership of the Central Okanagan (STPCO) is a formal partnership of the City of Kelowna, City of West Kelowna, Districts of Lake Country and Peachland, Westbank First Nation and the Regional District of Central Okanagan. The organization coordinates the regional delivery of sustainable transportation programs and projects in support of common regional policy, plans and interests (economic, social and environmental).
