Join thousands of Central Okanagan residents as they hop on their bikes this spring to commute to and from work, school and other daily activities.

Registration is now open for this year’s Bike to Work and School Week, which takes place from May 27 to June 2.

“Whether you’re a year round cyclist or brand new to biking, Bike to Work and School Week is a great time to challenge yourself and others to get around the community by bike,” said Matt Worona, City of Kelowna Active Transportation Coordinator. “On top of the awesome prizes and events that take place during the week, your health and the environment are also winners.”

In 2018, more than 2,300 residents across the region registered for Bike to Work Week, 557 of which were new riders. Those participants logged 86,000 kilometres and saved nearly 19,000 kg of greenhouse gasses. Additionally, 31 schools participated in Bike and Walk to School Week.

“Last year we had record breaking numbers of participants – let’s try to top those numbers this year!” said Worona.
