Bike to Work Week has been happening in the Central Okanagan since 2003. Bike to Work Week and Bike to School Week are coordinated by the smartTRIPS program, in partnership with GoByBike BC Society, a non-profit society that works with communities across the Province to encourage more people in all BC communities to commute by bicycle through Bike to Work initiatives.

This prize is awarded to the individual rider with the best participation. The prize winner receives a wine tour with Distinctly Kelowna Tours, free yoga class at The Hot Box Yoga, and a bike light.

  1.  Eligibility: This contest is open to canadian residents only. 
  2. Agreement to Rules: By participating, the contestant (“You”) agree to be fully unconditionally bound by these Rules, and You represent and warrant that You meet the eligibility requirements. In addition, You agree to accept the decisions of the City of Kelowna as final and binding as it relates to the content of this contest.
  3. Campaign Period: Entries will be accepted online starting on Tuesday, May 21 and ending Friday, May 24 at 3:59 p.m. 
  4. How to Enter: The contest must be entered by liking and commenting on the Facebook post on the official Bike to Work and School Week 2019 event page. The entry must fulfill all contest requirements, as specified, to be eligible to win a prize. Entries that are incomplete or do not adhere to the rules or specifications may be disqualified at the sole discretion of the City of Kelowna.
  5. Prize: The winner of the contest will receive a Seven Peaks E-One 7H 350W Electric Bike provided by Kelowna E-Ride. The specifics of the prize shall be solely determined by the City of Kelowna. No cash or other prize substitution shall be permitted except.
  6. Winner Selection and Notification: Winner will randomly selected under the supervision of the City of Kelowna. Winner will be notified through Facebook within 24 hours following selection of contest closing. The City of Kelowna shall have no liability for Winner’s failure to receive notices due to spam, junk e-mail or other security settings or for Winner’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information. If Winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim the prize within 7 days from the time award notification was sent the prize may be forfeited and an alternate Winner selected. 
  7. Publicity: By particpating, each contestant grants the City of Kelowna permission to use his/her name, likeness and comments for publicity purposes.

Tire toss competition

See how far you can toss a bike tire onto a delineator. Each day the distance will increas and the top three competitors will be invited to compete in the tire toss finals, held at the Friday afternoon event on May 31 at Prospera Place. Prizes from Kettle River Brewing will reward successful throws throughout the week and the winning competitors at the end of the week.

Thank you everyone for your participation in 2016! With a combined 268 teams and 186 individual riders, there 2,010 riders total this year! Of those, a record 455 of you identified as new riders; new to Bike to Work Week or to commuter cycling! Way to go new riders for getting out there and to you experienced riders for offering encouragement, tips and support! 

You all logged 7,433 trips which amounted to 69,709 km travelled, preventing 16.2 tons of green house gases from entering our atmosphere!

Tire Toss Grand Finale!

After an edge of your seat final elimination battle, Trevor Towers of Urban Systems defended his 26' toss with another successful final throw on Friday afternoon! All at the Urban Systems station in front of his colleagues! Trevor won a stainless steel Tree Brewing Growler full of the beer of his choice and a grower bike rack holder and $150 gift card from Tree Brewing Institute!

Thank you everyone for your participation in 2015! With a combined 268 teams and 186 individual riders, there was an astounding 2,171 riders last year! Of those 2,171 riders, 375 of them were new participants in Bike to Work Week!

You all logged 7,433 trips which amounted to 69,709 km travelled, preventing 16.2 tons of green house gases from entering our atmosphere!

Bike draws were done at the stations and random team draws were done daily. Team Leaders awarded the prize to someone on their team however they saw fit. Team Leaders were encouraged to hold a random draw or reward someone that had gone that extra mile, such as the person who cycled the most or the newest cyclist on the team.
